The Clarinet needs to be cared for to keep it in pristine playing condition! Be sure to not leave your Clarinet in extreme conditions such as a hot car or freezing temperatures.
Swab your Clarinet
When you're finished playing take off your reed ligature and mouthpiece. Use a clarinet swab to run through your clarinet. Pull the swab through from bell to the barrel. You should do this EVERY time you have finished playing. Also don't forget to wash your swab once a month!
Wipe your Clarinet
Use a instrument cleaning cloth or microfiber towel to wipe down your clarinet to remove the oil and junk that accumulate on it. Believe it or not, the oils from your hands will build up on your clarinet. Wipe it down after you play every time.
Clean your mouthpiece! At least once a week clean your mouthpiece. Use a moistened Q-tip or a mouthpiece brush to clean out your mouthpieces nooks and crannies. Never put it in the dishwasher or in hot water. Try to keep the cork from getting wet too.
